Pick of the day

I think these are adorable. I love the little bit of coloured detail showing through the top. These would look great with most outfits, especially for the  summer months. A skirt would accompany them very well and give off that bohemian vibe, ideal for a festival? What do you think?

If you are interested in them, then go to the River Island website they have a large selection of boots and sandals. http://www.riverisland.com/Online/women/shoes–boots/ankle-boots/dark-beige-tassel-ankle-boots–617533

Easter break

Standard

Happy Easter everyone!

These last couple of weeks have been crazy. I’ve become so so lazy with my blog posts, I’m just making most of my time off work and University. Most of my holidays has been spent in front of the television and pigging out on pre easter chocolate eggs and cakes. I know I’ve put the weight on…

Here is just a round up of what I’ve been upto.

Firstly I went to visit a close friend in Essex, lovely spending time with her again. I had the infamous spray tan at Lauren Goodgers salon in Buckhurst Hill, sampled some delicious home cooked Indian food, traveled  around London and managed to browse my old vintage shops in the east end. I found the most amazing pair of lime green levi shorts from Brick Lane, such a bargain! I absolutely adore London, I think I have a love affair going off with the place, wish I could live there again.

The second week was spent back in my hometown with my best friend Holly. We went to the local fair, going on the bumper cars numerous times, who knew driving cars into one another could be so much fun. Ha!

I’ve had a great time back home, it’s so lovely to just relax and see old friends and family again. I’ll be back in Cornwall over the next few days or so.

So just to let you know I’ve not completely abandoned my blog, I will be returning to my weekly posts and choosing my pick of the week and reflecting on my last couple of months at University. These last three years have gone so fast!!!

Hope you enjoy reading my future posts and the rest of your Easter Sunday!

The Only Way Is A Spray Tan

Standard

Up and coming reality tv star Lauren Goodger, of The Only Way Is Essex, has recently launched her own salon in Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Fans are now able to get up, close and personal with the it girl of Essex and sample her new range of self tan.  With myself being such a big fan of the show I simply had to visit the salon to try out the infamous spray tans. Priced only at fifteen pounds with a free glass of bubbly it gives you a glimpse into the glamorous world of Essex.

Only taking twenty minutes to apply and dry, this is great for cutting out streaky hands and the fear of over tanning certain areas.

At first I was quite shocked at the colour of the lotion due to its intensity, but found after a shower and a few hours later the colour was neutralized and developed into a natural looking tan. It’s been a week since the application and my tan has still not faded.  I would definitely fit in with the Essex gang but would also fit in with any Cornwall location. The tan leaves your skin glowing and feeling much healthier, perfect for those summer evenings.

If you are interested in a ‘Lauren’s Way’ tan, she has introduced a tanning lotion, gel and a mousse which has been recommended for its easy application.

Advice – Exfoliate and recommend you use a self tanning mitt to avoid those orange stained hands.

What to wear at Gylly Beach

Standard

Now it’s that time of year, where students flock to the infamous beach hotspots of Cornwall and enjoy their well-deserved English summer. But before heading to all the local bbqs and surfer sessions, you need to find that perfect two-piece to show your beach bod off. What better way than to enjoy those gorgeous sunsets over the sea with swimwear to match?

Topshop have some great additions this year, bringing us the popular aztec print.

£26.00                                                                                                                                        £28.00

If  fuller swim suits are more your style try Topshop’s bathing suit range. There’s some cute little numbers which are very Marilyn Monroe inspired, perfect for that beach beauty.

£32.00                                                                                                                                    £32.00

The floral print is fabulous for Falmouths hot spot ‘Gylly Beach’. Team this up with some sandals and sarong and off you go, you’re ready for summer!

International Women’s Day

Standard

International women’s day was celebrated in style last Thursday in the guildhall building, Plymouth. Plymouth City Council and its partners organized the event gathering hundreds of women to raise awareness of the victorious day.

Plymouth chose to go with the theme of education to encourage ladies around the world how to unlock their own potential.

Many business outlets joined the event including the Royal Navy, Wild and Plymouth University.

Bev Smerdon, development officer for the Plymouth Centre of faiths and culture diversity said “I think its raised people’s awareness of the wider range of options for women across the city. It’s done its best by bringing the whole range of different perspectives.”

Visitors had the chance to listen to inspiring talks run by the Military wives choir, entrepreneur Bev Hurley, Tania West (Wild) and Professor Wendy Purcell. Craft shops and workshops were held throughout the morning and late afternoon.

Natalie Crinkett of Saltash said, “I travel every year to this event. I think it’s always a success, always encouraging young girls. My daughter came with me this year and she’s really opened her eyes at the possibilities and opportunities out there for herself and her own future.”

My pick of the week

Standard

I always see links to Fearne Cotton’s range on very.co.uk and after looking over the site I found this by Love label. I’ve never heard of them before but I’ve found some fab pieces.

Price – £45.00
Definitely worth it to have that bit something different. Looks great with the white trousers that the model’s wearing. The japanese inspired piece would look great dressed up or down, making it very versatile.
Hope you like this, if you want to look at any more designs and labels check out the website here – http://www.very.co.uk/

Apologies and update on Paris

Standard

Hey, I’m so sorry for the lack of posts in last two weeks or so, I guess I have a lot to catch up on. First things first I’m working on my portfolio for uni at the moment, that’s taking majority of my time up. Secondly I have gained my first piece of paid work for Cornwall Today, well chuffed if it all goes to plan. And thirdly I do need to update you of my time in Paris last month, long overdue!

Trying to work out the metro system was absolute hell and also not being able to speak french! Sadly my GCSE level french failed me. You know that scene in Sex and the City, when Carrie first see’s the Eiffel Tower and she lets a cry, I was like that except I didn’t let a cry. The popular monument was breathtaking, bigger than I had imagined! The view was absolutely amazing, I’m not usually one scared of heights but on the way up in the lift I did feel slightly weird. I would recommend everyone experiences it and the price isn’t too bad for six euros!  Had to take this shot. The architecture of the city is some of the best I’ve seen. Each building is so beautiful, It makes me think of Chanel and old fashioned  Paris.

You can’t come to Paris without experiencing a Chocolat Chaud…

Paris by night.

I really like this picture, I was struggling though to take it in the cold weather, my hands were shaking that’s why the picture is slightly blurry.

I had a fabulous trip to Paris on the eurostar. I would recommend anyone using it as it only takes two and a half hours to get there from London St pancreas. The price of the tickets depends on the time of the year, mine was only sixty pounds return but I think that’s because of going in Feb. Keep a look out for cheap deals on the eurostar website, you’re bound to come across something cheap. My next stop on the map is Milan in May with my mum to pre – celebrate my graduation.
